Not too long ago a guy who builds airplanes got the number for No Bones Art from a friend of mine and wanted graphics for his newest creation. I was surprised to hear him say that he wanted an image of Wylie Coyote on one of the old-style ACME airplane kits. I was never able to find an image of one so we had to put our heads together and fabricate it from what we can recall of those old cartoons.

As you can see in the pictures, (aside from the fact that the plane looks totally awesome!), Wylie is flying on a poorly constructed ACME box with wings and a tail that are hardly worthy of their description as being so. Nails are hanging out in several places and it certainly doesn’t appear to be an aircraft that anyone would attempt to actually take flight on. And of course…..he has that wild look in his eyes that he gets every time he thinks he’s actually found a way to catch Road Runner. Could this have been captured any better?… I’ll let you decide.

This is the most recent shirt design, which is something I’ve been toying around with in my spare time. As you can see, it consists of the mauled dog which is representative of this company’s foundation, only the dog’s fill space consists only of a tiny portion of one of my drawings. You can’t tell by looking at it, but the drawing was actually a bull skull broken into tribal art. In conclusion, this is the “world of hurt” that we’re always hearing about. I feel like this a great way of expressing it without laying out an image containing blood and guts. After all, the psychological torture we endure can sometimes weigh far more than any physical infliction of pain.

For NO BONES ART, this a positive symbol. It provides a visual aspect of where each of us stand in our lives as we experience and overcome adversity. It is a scar. It tells a story of wisdom gained and emotions that have been lost along the way.

You can order this shirt design by emailing us from the contact page. Shirts come in black or white, long sleeve or short sleeve, any size.

I know that this is a little on the cheesy side. A friend of mine asked me to help create a team name and logo for his softball team. After brainstorming for awhile, I came up with about 8 names that I felt were unique and original. One of the names was Dogblade—which I’m partial to, and I don’t really know why. So I played around in Illustrator until I came up with this image. I kept in mind while designing it that if the logo were to actually be used, it would have to be designed in a way that is screen print-ready. So the outcome is this clean cut vector image. The number of layers it would need to be broken down into would depend on how many colors are applied.

This mural was airbrushed for Rick’s Automotive & Custom Exhaust, establishing character on what was a set of plain white panels. The panels are covering a high part of a rear wall in Rick’s shop, one of which has a cut-out for the shop’s exhaust fan. Rick, the owner of Rick’s Automotive & Custom Exhaust, came up with the idea of turning the exhaust fan into the rear tire of an animated drag car some time ago. It wasn’t until I asked him the other day if he was interested in having any art projects done that he was ready to make it happen.

With about 20 hours of actual “paint time” in this project, the result is a really cool drag car tearing away from the line. In order to keep the color scheme balanced in the shop, Rick and I agreed that a blue car would look best. I tried a royal blue car at first, but it just didn’t have a “tough” feel to it. Then I went with more of a midnight blue, which blended too much with the night sky, and decided to do a combination of both. The car looked great but was still fading into the black night. Solution? I threw tints of red into the sky, not only adding the contrast that it was greatly in need of, but also provided a sort of mystifying appearance to the sky above it.

Once I had the panels up in place, Rick dug out several stickers for me to put on the barrier wall giving it a truly awesome added effect. The cover that is mounted over the exhaust fan is capable of flipping down to completely cover the fan. Yes, both sides are airbrushed. When the bottom half is flipped down, completely covering the fan, you see a fully painted tire and rim with smoke pouring off of it. Also, Rick wanted a drag racing light tree painted on the support beam just in front of the car. That was a nice little added feature upon completion of the mural.

Rick’s Automotive & Custom Exhaust is the shop I use when I need just about any type of automotive repair or custom work done. They are a great crew and do an awesome job. I hope to be able to do more artwork for them in the future.

I did this in my one-year-old’s bedroom just before he was born. His mother was determined to use this theme, and with no objections (HaHa), I spent a week working on it. Every image is airbrushed and nothing was pre-drawn before the paint was applied. As a final touch to complete the cartoon appearance, I used a black paint marker to outline the airbrush work on all four walls. None of these images are of my own creation, (obviously), and this was a very simple wall mural.
