Have you ever hired some one to draw a portrait of your loved one, only to end up with an image of some stranger who vaguely resembles the person the artist was trying to capture?  I can’t count the times I’ve seen this.  I don’t feel that the artist was at fault so much as the customer.  Before you hire an artist to do a portrait, you need to know that the portrait is going to turn out the way you envision it.  Each artist has an individual style and perspective on what he or she is trying to capture.  For many artists, their specialty is somewhat abstract and/or distorted.  If this is what the customer wants, which is sometimes the case, it works out fine.  But when the customer wants a nicely-done, very identifiable portrait done of a particular person, (or pet, for that matter), why settle for less?

I specialize in graphite, charcoal, and color pencil drawings, as well as airbrushing.  I’ve found that a lot of people are big fans of the black and white drawings because of the nostalgic feel it possesses.  I’m a big fan of it as well.  Then there’s the soft-to-hard-edged feel that comes through color pencils when you just feel like having some vibrance in the room.  To get a little bit flashier, airbrushed portraits are a definite eye-catcher.  I also like to know about the surroundings where the portrait will be displayed.  Color scheme coordination plays a big role in the final outcome.  You’re not going to want to go heavy on the warm colors when the majority of what’s in that room consists of cool colors, etc…

Whatever your desire, I can make it happen.
